Walks on Lake Ledro: Hiking paths for everyone
A walking and hiking Paradise: The area around Lake Ledro offers a variety of walking paths that are suitable for every level of experience, for those who are looking for challenging hiking tours as well as for the all those who rather prefer some easy-going stress relief in the midst of nature. Today we are going to focus on this second group of guests, discovering the most beautiful walks on and around Lake Ledro, with particular regard to the families.
Loop road around Lake Ledro
The selection of the most beautiful walking paths on Lake Ledro can’t but start from the close surroundings of this beautiful lake. We are talking about an easy walking path which is 9 kilometres long and follows the shore of the lake, across the beaches and little villages bordering it.
The perfect tour for the whole family and for all those of you who want to take the dog for a walk in a place where you can’t get lost (thanks to the many dispensers along the way). The typical starting point is Pieve di Ledro from where you proceed towards the beach of Pur, and then you walk on to the stilt house museum. This is where you then move on to the viewpoint, and from there down towards Mezzolago, following the shore back to Pieve.
Val Concei and the Enchanted Forest of Gavardina the Fairy
Val Concei and its woods extend over the Ledro Valley: from the valley floor, you can reach this natural paradise in about 15 minutes by car, leaving your car at Lenzumo or directly at the lodge Rifugio Al Faggio. Once you get there, your walking possibilities are various. We are talking about the naturalistic path along the valley floor which leads across the woods and which, following a route of 8 kilometres with a difference in altitude of little more than 200 metres, connects Lenzumo and indeed the lodge.
If you want to shorten the way, you can just leave your car a little further, at a rest area near the cross-country skiing trail. Another place not to miss out, especially travelling with children, is the Enchanted Forest of Gavardina the Fairy underneath the lodge: here you can find a series of wooden sculptures of dwarfs, animals and fairies, all made in 2018.
A trip to Ledro Land Art
The walking path in the Enchanted Forest of Gavardina the Fairy is not the only art-themed walk in the Ledro Valley. Actually, the art-themed walk par excellence is the one named Ledro Land Art, beginning at the pine forest of Pur, following a loop walk which takes you back to the starting point in less than one kilometre. The route is along the Assat stream and allows you to discover a great many works of art that have been created out of environmentally compatible materials during the past decade.
The Ponale Path
One of the most famous walking paths of the Alto Garda is the Ponale Path which connects the Ledro Valley to Riva del Garda. What we can suggest to all those of you who want to do it the easier way is to follow the path downhill, from Pregasina towards the lake in order to discover without too much physical effort one on the most popular and beautiful paths in Europe, thanks to its wonderful panoramic views and its particular constitution. Indeed, this little path follows rocky walls and leads through little tunnels from time to time, offering a magnificent view of the lake underneath.
Trip to Lago d’Ampola
The overview of the most beautiful walking paths in the surroundings of Lake Ledro comes to its conclusion with Lago d’Ampola, a glacial lake right after Tiarno di Sopra in the upper Ledro Valley. The route of this path which leads to the edge of the lake and which can be done also with a pram allows you to walk across wildflower meadows and fascinating wooden bridges where you can admire dragonflies, frogs and a lot more: the biodiversity really never disappoints up here.
