Mountain excursions
Whether you prefer walking, trekking or jogging in the mountains, all you need in the Ledro Valley to have an exciting day are good feet and comfortable clothing! The valley offers plenty of walking paths, from easy walks along the valley floor to those paths that lead up the steep rocky sides of the mountains.
Among the easy walks we can recommend the ones that lead to the waterfall Cascata Gorg d’Abiss and to the Madonnina del Besta, marvellous sites to spend a few hours; there are medium difficulty paths like the Strada della Ponale which takes you from Riva del Garda up to the Ledro Valley and the excursion to Monte Cocca. Among the most challenging paths, we want to mention the Monte Corno, a loop road that takes about 4 -5 hours and has a total difference in altitude of 700 metres.
Mountain bike and e-bike tours
Do you prefer cycling over smooth hills or rather up the steep paths? Well, the Ledro Valley can satisfy every cyclist’s preference, from the most experienced professionals to the very beginners. There are over 200 kilometres between bike and foot paths, forest roads, and mule tracks which are perfect for a relaxing ride on your bike but also for downhill mountain biking or e-bike tours.
These are three of the routes that we would like to recommend: the way up to Monte Tremalzo, where you can follow either the asphalt road or the gravel roads along its sides; the way that leads you from Lenzumo to Passo Trat up the forest road; the bike path along the valley floor that starts on Lake Garda and reaches Val d’Ampola.
Via ferratas and canyoning
The via ferratas, i.e., the climbing paths on the rocky mountain sides which are equipped to facilitate climbing them up safely, are one of the most popular attractions of the Ledro Valley and the entire Garda Trentino. Of course, to tackle these paths you need to be well prepared and well equipped under the guidance of a climbing expert.
The most famous via ferrata in the Ledro Valley is undoubtedly the F. Susatti which leads from the valley floor up to Cima Capi. The Ledro Valley however is also famous for sports like canyoning which can be practised in the rivers Torrente Palvico and Rio Nero: definitely an exciting experience with plenty of adrenaline!
Sailing and Wakeboarding
With its huge swimming lake (and water temperatures that reach up to 24 degrees centigrade in summer), the Ledro Valley is considered a water sports paradise. The light breeze that blows through the valley makes it particularly suitable for sailing and surfing. You can attend courses arranged by Circolo Vela Lago di Ledro or participate at regattas organized by the association Associazione Vela Lago di Ledro.
If it’s the ultimate thrill close to the water surface you’re looking for, then you might go for the wakeboard: you can hire all you need from the wakeboard school Be Wake situated in the district of Pur or ask them for a teacher or instructions.
